Trading Instruments
What is index trading and how does it work?
A stock index is made up of a group of shares and reflects the performance of a particular market, sector or country. According to EC Markets' page, an index CFD lets you trade on the price movements of an index; it is not a direct purchase of the index's constituent shares.

How do I trade stock indices?
The official site explains that you need a broker account that can trade the relevant index CFDs, and then choose to buy or sell according to your view of where the index is heading. CFDs are leveraged products, so you should understand the risks before trading.
